The riverside town of Rundu, on the banks of the Okavango River, is situated in Kavango, the home of Namibia's well- known Kavango woodcarvers. This ancient craft, handed down over generations, is a flourishing industry today. Wooden carvings are made and offered for sale at the Mbungura Woodcraft Co-operative, which has its main workshop and office in the town Good lodges accessible from Rundu are Hakusembe Lodge, located 12 kin west of Rundu on the Okavango River in a tranquil riverine wilderness, and the well- known Suclabo Lodge, also on the banks of the Okavango River (downstream from the Popa Falls), with the main deck area elevated so that visitors are afforded panoramic views over the water. In Rundu itself, is the Kavango River Lodge with its magnificent vistas over the surrounding flood plains and across the river towards southern Angola. Ndhovu Lodge, 4 kin away from the Mahango Game Reserve, on the western banks of the Okavango River.
