Leskovac is a city located in Serbia and Montenegro at 43.00? North, 21.95? East.

It is the administrative center of the Jablanica District of Serbia.

Its name stems from word "hazelnut" in Serbian language. In 2003 the city had total population of 63,400 with an absolute Serbian majority.

On 12 april 1999, during the Kosovo War, a bridge near Leskovac was hit by a NATO aircraft just as a passenger train crossed it. This act was highly controversial, especially when knowing that the pilot hit the bridge a second time after he hit the train.
