Palanka Smederevska is a city located in Serbia and Montenegro at 44.37? North, 20.96? East. Its name means "A town of Smederevo" in Serbian language. In 2003 the city has total population of 26 000. Smederevska Palanka se nalazi na nadmorskoj visini od 100 do 286 metara, kao ivicni, severoistocni deo Sumadije, koji je poznatiji pod imenom Donja Jasenica, po reci Jasenici. Ceo ovaj kraj ima brezuljkasti karakter, sa niskim pobrdjem u juznim i istocnim delovima opstine. Grad Smederevska Palanka je privredni, kulturni i administrativni centar istoimene opstine. Po popisu iz 2002. godine grad ima oko 26000 stanovnika, a cela opstina oko 58000 stanovnika. Mnogo vekova ovo podrucje egzistira kao znacajno ljudsko staniste. Priroda, plodna zemlja, sume i vode, kao i komunikacije, pruzale su izvanredne uslove za zivot. Zato su tragove svoga vremena na ovim prostorima ostavile mnoge civilizacije. Ovde su Neolicani i Halstacani stvarali svoja ognjista, znacajni su ovde bili prostori Rimskog carstva, Turci su gradili svoje hanove, Srbi svoje manastire. Tako je i grad u svojoj vekovima dugoj istoriji dobijao vise imena: Aspri Eklesija, Bink Palanka, Jeni Palanka, Velika Palanka, da bi, dolaskom Turaka 1463. godine, dobila ime Hasanpasina Palanka, zatim samo Palanka, i najzad, Smederevska Palanka. U gradu se nalazi izvor mineralne vode Kiseljak, Kudrecko jezero i park - suma Mikulja.
