Things continue to go well - we will get the first of our two vehicles and a driver tomorrow morning. We've also met with our cook who will come shopping with us. We have been given space at the National Museums of Tanzania, in which we'll accumulate our supplies until we pack to leave for the field. We hope to leave on Wednesday morning, early.

We must visit the immigration office every morning to try to expidite getting our residence permits and hope that our efforts will result in having them by Tuesday. Tomorrow is a national holiday - saba saba (seven, seven) - which slows things down a bit.

Our Tanzanian colleague, an NYU student named Charles Msuya, has been an invaluable help to us in getting things arranged. Without him, we'd be here for weeks before getting out of town with permits, vehicles, cook, etc.
