Horlivka (Ukrainian: ????????, Russian: ????????) is a city in eastern Ukraine within its Donetsk Oblast, located at 48?18?N 38?3?E. Population 292,000 (as of 2001). It is a coal mining and chemical industry center.

The settlement was founded by Pyotr Gorlov in 1867, though it was little more than a series of mining camps until rapid expansion in the 1930s.

In recent years many mines have closed, and the city's population reduced by more than 10% during the 1990s.
